Texas Parent Education and Family Stabilization Course FAQs
Texas courts may order parent education in a Suit Affecting the Parent-Child Relationship when it serves the child’s best interest. Two Families Now provides the approved 4-6 hour course through an online format allowed by Texas law.
Can Two Families Now satisfy a Texas Parent Education and Family Stabilization Course requirement?
Yes. Two Families Now is approved in Texas as a Parent Education and Family Stabilization Course. Texas Family Code § 105.009 allows a court to order parties in a Suit Affecting the Parent-Child Relationship, or SAPCR, to attend when the court finds it is in the child’s best interest. The law permits electronic delivery and sets a course length of at least four and no more than twelve hours; it does not require the course in every divorce.
Who is the Two Families Now course designed for?
The Texas course is for parents in a Suit Affecting the Parent-Child Relationship when a court orders education in the child’s best interest. That may include disputes about possession or access, but the course is not automatically required in every divorce. Parents can also enroll voluntarily to strengthen their co-parenting relationship.
Can I take a parenting or co-parenting class online?
Yes. Two Families Now is a 100% online parenting and co-parenting class. It is available 24/7 during your access period, with no scheduled classroom session, live meeting, or Zoom appointment. There are no fixed login times. You do not need to complete the course in one sitting. Work through a section when you have time, stop when you need to, and sign back in later. Your progress is saved so you can continue where you left off. You can take the co-parenting course online from home or anywhere you have reliable internet access.
How long does the course take?
Two Families Now is a 4-6 hour course, although actual completion time may vary with your reading pace and the time you spend on activities. Because it is self-paced, you can finish the online parenting class in one sitting or divide it into shorter sessions over several days without losing your place.
When do I get course access and how long do I have to complete it?
You receive course access immediately after successful registration and payment. The confirmation provides instructions for signing in and getting started, so there is no classroom date or appointment to wait for. Your access remains available for 30 days. During that period, you can work at your own pace on any supported device, sign out whenever you need to, and return to your saved progress without starting over.
What does this online parenting education course cover?
The Texas course addresses the co-parenting relationship and the effect of family conflict on children. Parents practice communication, effective listening, stress and emotion management, transitions between households, and child-focused problem solving. Those tools can help when parents are working through possession or access in a SAPCR, while the course itself does not decide legal issues or change an existing order.
Can I take the course on my phone or tablet?
Yes. You can complete the course on a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer. That flexibility lets you work through the material at home or wherever it is convenient. You only need a reliable internet connection and a current web browser.
When do I get my Certificate of Completion?
Your Certificate of Completion becomes available after you finish all required course content and activities. You can download it immediately and save or print a copy for your records. Follow the filing or submission instructions that apply to your case, including any deadline in your paperwork. Two Families Now does not automatically file every certificate with the court.
Can family law and court professionals recommend the course?
Yes. Attorneys, mediators, court staff, parenting coordinators, and case managers can recommend Two Families Now when it fits the applicable requirements. The course combines convenient online access, a standardized curriculum, an evidence-based approach supported by published research, and a downloadable Certificate of Completion. Professionals can review the curriculum and acceptance details before making a referral. Our court professionals page also includes research, referral information, and materials to share with parents.
Referral information, research, and downloadable materials are available on our resources for Family Law & Court Professionals.
How do I verify a Texas parent education course order?
Review the order in your SAPCR or other family case and any applicable local court rules. The order should identify whether a course is required, the deadline, and how to submit the Certificate of Completion. Use the acceptance checker for your location. A court clerk, attorney, mediator, or case manager can clarify a procedure that is not stated in the paperwork.
